DESCRIPTION

Produced from buckwheat (the famous buckwheat) by the Distillerie des Menhirs since 1999, Eddu is a range of whiskeys with a unique taste and style. Rounder, less full-bodied and lighter than most single malts and blended whiskies, Eddu cuvées are all marked by floral, fruity, spicy and nutty notes. Proudly highlighting the Breton and French terroir, the brand's whiskeys are distilled twice in Charentais stills, then aged in barrels from Cognac and the mythical forest of Brocéliande. Gently reduced inside the barrels, the eaux-de-vie produced by the Breton distillery are the result of a beautiful marriage between French and Scottish techniques. The choice of buckwheat as the basis of work does not respond to any logic of productivity,

A must in any self-respecting spirits cellar, whiskey is a grain brandy made from cereals (barley, oats, wheat, rye). Born in Anglo-Saxon countries, it is particularly prized by the Scots and the Irish, who became specialists in its manufacture very early in history. Whiskey holds a special place in the world of alcohols and spirits. Many countries have also embarked on its development, including in Asian regions. Irish whiskey, American bourbon, Japanese whiskey, all develop specificities giving them exceptional quality. However, the reference remains Scottish whiskey and its famous regional variations: Lowlands, Highlands, Speyside, Campbeltown, Islands (including Jura, Arran) and Islay.

Aged in ex-cognac casks, an original blend composed of 70% barley whisky, enriched with 30% buckwheat whisky.

Officially released in 2003. Awarded the “Best innovation in 2005” (Produit en Bretagne/food industries)

Both the buckwheat and barley are sourced in Brittany

The ‘IGP Whisky de Bretagne’ denomination means that every aspect of the production process, from grinding to maturation, is carried out in Brittany, in our case at Distillerie des Menhirs
