The phrase "The Forbidden Rum" is translated as "El Ron Prohibido Rum Habanero" in Spanish.
The reason behind this is that Chinguirito Rum, which is made from distillate of Mexican sugar cane that was carried to Spain and kept in barrels of sherry, gained a lot of popularity around the year 1700. Naturally, this infuriated the conventional rum manufacturers.
The Royal House outlawed the Chinguirito (also known as Habanero) without an issue.
