DESCRIPTION
Unofficially, the Ardbeg distillery has been distilling since 1794 - in 1815, the distillery was purchased by John McDougall and officially opened under the name Ardbeg.
"Ardbeg" comes from the Gaelic and translated means something like "small hill".
The distillery is located on the south coast of the whisky region of Islay.
Dr. Bill Lumsden, Director of Distilling, presents this new permanent bottling of Ardbeg; a small batch that is released annually.
Ardbeg TRAIGHT BHAN Batch No. 5 is a 19 year old whisky and the latest bottling in the outstanding Ardbeg range, which is mostly aged in oloroso sherry casks. Batch No. 5 undergoes additional maturation in American Oak casks. This combination of cask aging gives it remarkable depth and complexity. TRAIGH BHAN Batch No. 5 is a tribute to the nature and tradition of the island of Islay and offers an exclusive opportunity to experience the unique flavors and characteristics of this region.
