The original recipe can be traced back to Dr. Pierre Ordinaire, who developed it in 1792.
Henri Louis-Pernod, however, tweaked it for its re-release as an epicurean spirit to further accommodate modern palates.
Pernod Absinthe impresses with the successful bitterness, which he owes to the select wormwood plants.

Absinthe was banned in just about every country in the 1920s because of the toxic neurotoxin thujone formed in excessive amounts of wormwood herb. Even today, the amount of thujone contained is still limited.
