The Harz is not only the location of the highest mountain range in northern Germany, but has been since 2002 also a source for maximum single malt enjoyment.

The family business produces an impressive range of Hercynian single malt whiskys by hand, always genuine, using traditional methods and a great deal of experimentation mature into highly aromatic drams.
 

The Original Hercynian Single Malt is a smooth whiskey made from 95% pale, non-smoky malt and 5% roasted chocolate malt.

The 2022 edition matured in six different Cask types. 

The result is a complex single malt whisky with fruity and spicy notes of European oak, the tempting sweetness of toffee and vanilla as well as the aromas of tangerine and gentle mocha typical of ElsBurn.

Nose: at the beginning a light sweetness with lots of fruit, then spicy aromas develop, plus vanilla and toffee

Palate: soft and balanced in taste, again the fruits, plus raisins - then becoming sweeter with soft toffee and sweet-spicy oak - above all a subtle note of mocha

Finish: the fruits are preserved for a long time, the sweetness also remains, plus a light smoky note
