DESCRIPTION
The Andrews family started bottling single malts at a time when most other manufacturers were still making blends.
The Knappogue Castle 14 Years Old Single Malt Twinwood takes its name from the castle of the same name in the west of Ireland which was built in the 15th century.
Years later it was bought by Mark Edwin Andrews II and restored in the 1960s.
Mark Edwin Andrews II built up an impressive and rare collection of Pure Pot Still Whiskeys, which he bottled after reaching the perfect age and named after his beloved Knappogue Castle.
The last and oldest whiskey of Mr. Andrews — Knappogue Castle 1951 — can only be purchased in special orders due to its rarity.
Mark Andrews III began many years later to preserve his father’s legacy through premium vintage whiskeys and brandies.
The Knappogue Castle 14 Years Old Single Malt Twinwood matured for at least 14 years in two different wooden barrels — Oloroso-Sherry and Ex-Bourbon barrels.
It was bottled in October 2012 in only 2000 bottles. Each bottle is numbered and bears the signature of Mark Andrews.
