Kopke ON ICE White Port is a contemporary take on the traditional Portuguese white Port, designed with one purpose in mind: to be poured over plenty of ice. It comes from Kopke, a name that has been synonymous with Port production since 1638, making it Portugal's longest-standing Port house. This bottling brings together generations of winemaking heritage with a distinctly modern, easy-drinking style suited to today's aperitif culture.
The grapes for this Port are grown in the renowned Douro Valley, using traditional Portuguese white varieties. Vinification and maturation follow the time-honoured methods associated with classic Port production, resulting in a wine that is both rooted in tradition and shaped for contemporary tastes.
At 19.5% ABV, Kopke ON ICE White Port delivers a fresh, well-balanced profile with gentle fruitiness and a touch of sweetness. It's been specifically crafted for serving neat over ice, or as the foundation for lighter, summery Port-based cocktails, offering an approachable and refreshing alternative to more conventional aperitifs. Whether you're an established Port enthusiast or simply looking for an easygoing warm-weather pour, this bottle is built for casual, relaxed enjoyment.
Tasting Note
This white Port shows a pale golden-yellow colour with bright, brilliant reflections. The nose offers citrus, white peach and apricot alongside tropical fruit notes and a hint of delicate florals. On the palate it's fresh and harmonious, with a well-judged sweetness, fruity character and a lively, energetic texture. The finish stays elegant and fruit-forward, lingering pleasantly.
It's best enjoyed as an aperitif, poured generously over ice, and gains extra freshness with a slice of lemon or orange, or a sprig of mint. Food-wise, it pairs nicely with light starters, seafood, sushi, fruit-based salads or mild goat's cheese, and also works well as a base for summery long drinks and Port cocktails. Recommended serving temperature is 6–8°C.
