Kracher Liliac & Kracher Ice Wine 2024 10% Vol. 0,375l

The Liliac & Kracher Ice Wine 2024 is the result of a distinctive partnership between the Romanian winery Liliac and the renowned Austrian sweet wine specialists at Kracher. Born from a long-standing relationship between the two houses, this project was also shaped by a practical challenge: winters in Austria's Burgenland region have grown milder in recent years, making the natural freeze required for authentic ice wine harder to achieve. Transylvania, by contrast, still delivers the harsh winter cold that allows grapes to freeze naturally on the vine, making it an ideal home for this style of wine.

For the 2024 vintage, hand-harvested Muskat Ottonel, Traminer and Fetească Albă grapes were blended to create a wine that reflects both Romanian terroir and Austrian winemaking know-how. The result is a sweet wine with real character, where concentrated fruit and natural sweetness are held in check by a lively, refreshing acidity.

Bottled at 10% ABV in the traditional 0.375L format, this ice wine is best suited to dessert courses and special occasions, offering a meeting point between two winemaking traditions rarely combined in a single bottle.

Tasting Note

In the glass, this ice wine shows a pale straw-yellow hue with subtle green tints. The nose opens with grapefruit and citrus, layered with exotic fruit notes, sugar melon and delicate elderflower. On the palate, crisp fruit and concentrated sweetness are balanced by bright acidity, leading into a fresh, fruit-forward and well-rounded finish. It pairs naturally with fruity desserts, crème brûlée, tarte Tatin and fine pastries, and offers an interesting contrast alongside foie gras or strong, mature and blue cheeses. It can also stand on its own as a fitting close to a meal or a dessert wine for festive moments.
