The Lagavulin The Distillers Edition 2023 with 43% volume and 0.7 liter content is a special bottling from the renowned Lagavulin Distillery on the island of Islay, which is world-famous for its powerful, peaty single malts.

This edition is based on the classic Lagavulin 16 Years Old, which is prized for its intensity and complexity. For the Distillers Edition, however, the whisky is given an additional second maturation (double maturation) in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. This second maturation gives the maritime, smoky character of Lagavulin a lush sweetness, depth and a rich interplay of aromas of dried fruit, dark chocolate and fine spices.

The 2023 vintage edition was produced in a limited edition and reflects the perfect balance between strong Islay peat and sweet sherry cask opulence. Each bottle is individually numbered and presented in an elegant gift box.

Tasting notes:

Color: Deep amber with reddish reflections.

Nose: Intense and complex with peat smoke, dried figs, raisins, caramel, dark chocolate, sea salt and a fine sweetness of Pedro Ximénez.

Taste: Full-bodied, oily and harmonious, with strong smoke, dried fruit, sweet malt, spicy oak, dark cocoa and a slight salty note.

Finish: Long, warm and smoky, with lingering sherry sweetness and elegant spice.

The Lagavulin Distillers Edition 2023 unfolds its full aroma spectrum best neat or with a few drops of water. It is an excellent accompaniment to smoked salmon, grilled scallops, dark chocolate or game dishes such as venison in port wine sauce. It is also a highlight as a digestif after a festive meal. Thanks to its limited production and elaborate maturation, it is also a coveted collector's item for Islay whisky lovers.
