Ophyum Grand Premiere 23 Años Solera Rhum 40% Vol. 0,7l in Giftbox

Ophyum 23 years is a molasses rum, made from a blend of different Caribbean sources. The Oliver family, of Cuban origin, are experts in the practice of blending and Solera. They select rums of different ages, blend them and age them again in American and French oak barrels.

According to the Solera principle, the older rums (up to 23 years) educate the younger ones to offer a smooth and complex blend.

Tasting notes

The nose is sweet and very fruity, with a good whiff of sweetly spiced candied orange peel. The oily side of the peel is what you remember most, it is completely melted and mixed with a vanilla liqueur.

Aeration brings a little more caramelisation, and our orange peels start to get a little toasty around the edges. The spices make an obvious marriage with this profile, so the cinnamon feels particularly at home.

The palate is soft and very fluid, and the orange peel is much less thick and sweet than one might have imagined. It is now an orange blossom water that glides across the palate, spiced up all the same with a pinch of Christmas spice.

The finish is devoted to a soft, vanilla-like woodiness.
