Bombay Sapphire has announced a collaboration with artist Maggie Enterrios, unveiling a limited-edition label that aims to represent the brand’s commitment to sustainability. The label, designed by the California-based illustrator known online as @littlepatterns, depicts the life cycle of the gin brand’s key botanicals.

Inspired by the growers and suppliers integral to Bombay Sapphire’s sustainable ethos, Enterrios crafted a unique design capturing the spirit’s botanicals at various growth stages. From seeds to full blossoms, the label portrays the intricacies of the gin’s botanical makeup, celebrating the connection between the brand and its farmers, Bombay Sapphire explained.

“I wanted the design to feel like looking through the bottle straight into the soul of the gin: its botanical make-up,” Enterrios shared, per the report. “The design is meant to be a representation of the taste and a celebration of aromatics, all intertwined and bursting with movement. I wanted to focus on the entirety of the botanical – the fruits, rinds, and husks, all the way to the roots and the leaves.”

“I was inspired by the connection that BOMBAY SAPPHIRE has with its suppliers and growers, and I loved hearing the stories of where their botanicals are sourced. The whole project resonated with me deeply – to me, it felt like a way to honour craftsmanship. The craft of the farmers who grow the botanicals, the craft that goes into the vapour infusion process and the craft of creating a meticulous piece of artwork.”

Bombay Sapphire gin is made using ten botanicals sourced sustainably from different corners of the world, including juniper from Tuscany, coriander from Morocco and lemon peel from Spain. Classically profiled, the popular gin’s tasting notes feature zippy spice, citrus peel and soft pine.

The brand’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond sourcing to the entire gin-making process. Recognized with an “Outstanding” rating by BREEAM — the world’s leading environmental assessment for buildings — Bombay Sapphire’s distillery operates using 100% renewable energy and ensures waste is either recycled or converted into energy.
