Tasting Note

Colour: Warm gold to amber. 

Nose: Expressive and fruity-spicy with ripe orchard fruits, warming spices and subtle hints of toasted oak. 

Palate: Full-bodied, powerful and intense, with ripe orchard fruits, warming spices and toasted oak, accompanied by the elegant structure of the selected pot-still and malt whiskies. 

Finish: Long-lasting, warming and multi-layered, with lingering notes of fruit, spices and spicy oak.

Writer's Tears Cask Strength 2025 is best enjoyed neat at around 18 to 20 °C, though a few drops of still water can open up the robust 54.9% ABV and bring out additional nuances. Mature Cheddar, toasted walnuts or almonds, and dark chocolate are ideal accompaniments to the concentrated fruit and oak aromas. Desserts featuring apple, pear, cinnamon or caramelised nuts also complement the fruity, spicy character well.
