The Rey Campero Mezcal Espadín is an outstanding, handcrafted mezcal that reflects the deep tradition of Oaxaca. "Rey Campero", which means "King of the Land", stands for the heritage and dedication of the family distillery, which has been producing high-quality mezcal using traditional methods for generations.

Made from 100% Maguey Espadín (Agave Angustifolia), this agave variety thrives in the mineral-rich soils of the highland region. Harvesting only takes place after at least eight years of growth, allowing the plants to develop their full aromatic potential. The hearts of the agaves are roasted in traditional earth pits with hot stones and wood, which gives the mezcal its characteristic smoky note. After slow fermentation with wild yeasts, it is double distilled in copper stills to preserve its intense aromas and strong structure.
 

Tasting notes:

Color: Clear with bright silver reflections.
Nose: Expressive smoky notes combined with earthy accents, sweet agave, roasted nuts and a hint of tropical fruit.
Taste: Powerful and complex with notes of roasted agave, black pepper, citrus peel, honey and a fine mineral note.
Finish: Long, spicy and slightly oily with lingering smoky notes and a hint of herbs and dark chocolate.

The Rey Campero Mezcal Espadín is perfect for pure enjoyment, served in a traditional copita or clay pot to fully appreciate its complex aromas. It harmonizes particularly well with grilled meat, spicy mole, smoked fish or dark chocolate.
