Crysopea of Cleopatra
Cleopatra Oro is a line of Grappas obtained from very fresh marc, featuring a refinement and bouquet rarely found in a distillate.
A brief stay in oak barrels completes the structure.
Why Cleopatra?
Cleopatra, alchemist of the Ancient Egypt, created the first still aimed at distilling the most precious among metals, gold, and called it Crysopea (from Greek chrysos, gold and poirò, to make).
In the XXI century, after years of research at the Poli Distillery a new Crysopea was born again, the most innovative bain marie vacuum still in function nowadays through which the precious Poli Moscato Oro has been distilled and kept in this bottle.
Poli Crysopea
The Poli Crysopea is an innovative bain-marie vacuum still equipped with a column without distillation plates.
Compared to other traditional bain-marie systems operating in Italy, the distillates obtained with Crysopea are significantly better due to:
- enhanced terpene floral note
- big reduction in head impurities
- considerable decrease in esters
- reduction in methyl alcohol.
The application of vacuum in the distillation process had already been tried by the Italian Enrico Comboni towards the end of the 19th century, but many decades were to pass before it was used in production and not only for experimental purposes, given the considerable technical difficulties linked to the risk of implosion of the still and the condensation of vapors.
The main advantage consists of a lowering of the boiling point of alcohol and the various volatile compounds present in the grape pomace, determined by the negative pressure inside the still, i.e. the vacuum.
This enables a distillate to be obtained and marked by delicate fruity and floral fragrances which, in being thermolabile, are normally lost due to the temperature present inside a boiler.
Characteristics Cleopatra Moscato Oro
The pleasurable medium sweet essence and the amber color of the Cleopatra Moscato Oro remind of prestigious spring perfumes.
Obtained from marcs of Moscato Fior d’Arancio and Moscato Bianco grapes of the Colli Euganei (Euganean Hills), it is appreciated for his balance and his fine elegance.
Fragrances of fresh fruits and honey are paired with the smooth and caressing taste of this Grappa, which embodies class and refinement.
Cleopatra Moscato Oro holds the delicate soul of a bouquet and the seductive scent of a woman.
