The Conde Valdemar Tempranillo Rioja DOC 2023 is a red wine full of character from the renowned Spanish wine-growing region of Rioja Alavesa, a sub-region of the famous La Rioja. The traditional Conde Valdemar winery, known for its elegant combination of tradition and innovation, vinifies this single-varietal Tempranillo with great sensitivity and an awareness of its origin. The vines grow on clay and limestone soils, which give the wine structure and mineral freshness - ideal conditions for authentic, fruity red wines.

Vinification is temperature-controlled in steel tanks - at 26 to 28 °C for 10 to 12 days - to bring out the fruit and structure in the best possible way. The result is a juicy, modern Rioja with a clear grape variety identity. The wine is sealed with a natural cork and offers ageing potential until at least 2027. The cuvée consists of Garnacha and Viura, with Tempranillo taking the leading role - an exciting combination that ensures aromatic depth and complexity of flavor.

In the glass, the Conde Valdemar Tempranillo is a deep purple red with a youthful sheen. The nose is spicy and fruity at the same time: hints of marjoram, stewed plums, fine graphite notes and a hint of caramel combine to create an elegant interplay of aromas. On the palate, the wine develops precise cherry notes, a subtle chocolate touch, delicate marzipan aromas and a vital texture. The robust tannins give it a backbone, while the subtle acidity structure ensures freshness and balance. A modern Rioja with a clear signature and great drinking pleasure.

This Tempranillo is the perfect accompaniment to tapas, grilled meat, lamb chops, Spanish stews or paella with chorizo. It also harmonizes wonderfully with mature Manchego, dark chocolate or dishes with Mediterranean herbs.
