Ardbeg 15 Years Old The Ultimate Trudernish Islay Single Malt 48.8% ABV 0.7l in a gift box The Ardbeg 15 Years Old The Ultimate Trudernish is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky, whose name refers to the remote settlement of Trudernish and, by extension, to one of the hidden spots on Islay’s so-called ‘Enchanted Cape’. Inspiration is drawn in particular from the Trudernish Brunner spring, nestled deep within a copse, whose soft, pure water, according to local legend, is said never to freeze. At the same time, the whisky remains unmistakably true to the time-honoured Ardbeg Distillery, founded on Islay in 1815, and its characteristic style. 

Earthy peat and wood smoke form the foundation of this 15-year-old expression, whilst the long maturation brings out additional depth and a remarkably creamy texture. Bourbon casks, virgin oak and Oloroso sherry casks are used for the Ardbeg Trudernish 15 Years Old. This combination enhances the classic Ardbeg character and enriches it with creamy, sweet and spicy notes. A particularly distinctive feature is the blend of robust Islay peat, delicate smoke and velvety creaminess, which lends the whisky a silky-smooth texture despite its intensity. 

The 15-year-old Ardbeg Single Malt is bottled at a robust 48.8% ABV, with no chill filtration or colouring agents used. This ensures that the whisky’s colour and character remain as authentic as possible. The 0.7-litre bottle is presented in a gift box and combines exceptional Islay inspiration with Ardbeg’s unmistakably smoky DNA.

Tasting Note

Colour: Straw-gold. 

Nose: Earthy peat and delicate wood smoke, enveloped in rich vanilla cream alongside floral notes, pine resin and heather honey. 

Palate: Creamy and full-bodied with robust Ardbeg peat, sweet vanilla cream, gentle pine, wood smoke and damp forest floor, followed by dark liquorice, chocolate lime and a hint of herbal mint. 

Finish: Long-lasting and warming with smouldering peat ash, vanilla pod and roasted nuts, leading into a lingering smoky finish. 

The Ardbeg 15 Years Old Trudernish is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at room temperature, although a few drops of still water can further bring out the creamy and smoky notes. Recommended food pairings include, in particular, fresh oysters and smoked salmon, whose maritime and smoky qualities, respectively, complement the typical Islay character perfectly. Charcuterie and hearty meat dishes also harmonise well with the peat, wood smoke and the spicy cask profile. Thanks to its 15-year maturation, the combination of bourbon, virgin oak and Oloroso sherry casks, and the gift box, Trudernish is also ideal for sophisticated whisky tastings and special moments of indulgence.
