It owes its name to the Widow Jane Mine in Rosendale, New York, from whose limestone caves the mineral-rich water for its production originates. The basis of this whiskey is a classic rye mash, which provides a strong, spicy character. Maturation takes place in ex-bourbon barrels, which have been supplemented with staves of oak and apple wood to create additional aromatic complexity.
