Don Papa, a lesser-known hero of the Philippine revolution, was originally a foreman on a sugar cane plantation on the island of Negros. He later became a leader in the fight for the independence of the Philippines against the colonial powers.
Don Papa Rum, named after him, honors the heroes of the revolution and their determination in the pursuit of freedom and independence.

The limited special edition Don Papa Secrets of Sugarlandia presents itself with a new, more intense recipe that offers an even more impressive rum experience. The rum is made from molasses from the Philippine island of Negros, known for one of the sweetest sugar cane varieties in the world.

After distillation, the rum first matures at the foot of Mount Kanlaon in ex-bourbon barrels before being transferred to ex-Rioja wine barrels for its finish. This ageing process gives it exceptional complexity and depth.

The special edition is presented in an artfully designed, limited edition gift box that highlights the endangered flora and fauna of Negros Island. Animals depicted include the blood pigeon, Visayan pig, spotted sambar, hornbill and yellow-bearded hornbill.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this edition will be donated to the Talarak Foundation and the Philippine Reef and Rainforest Conservation Foundation, organizations that work to protect the island's endangered species and habitats.
