Named after the Cueva tribe, one of the earliest indigenous peoples of Panama, this rum commemorates the first encounters with the Spanish in 1501. The tribe was wiped out by 1535 - through conflict and disease. Today, Ron Cueva sees itself as a tribute to the lost heritage of the Cueva and actively supports indigenous communities in Panama through social projects.

The rum itself is a masterfully composed blend of selected rums matured using the traditional Sistema Solera method - with portions aged for up to 30 years. Maturation in carefully selected oak barrels gives the rum its intense teak wood color and complex aroma profile.
