OPIS
The Gaja Barbaresco DOCG 2015 is an iconic red wine from Piedmont, bearing the signature of Angelo Gaja – one of Italy's most renowned winemakers, who has left a lasting mark on the wine world with his uncompromising philosophy of quality. Since the 1960s, the Gaja winery has stood for innovation and excellence, and Barbaresco is considered the house's flagship wine. Thanks to warm, sunny months and cool nights, the 2015 vintage produced particularly balanced and harmonious wines that are prized for their elegance, depth, and longevity.
The wine is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, which thrive in the calcareous marl and clay soils of the Barbaresco zone. Aging takes place traditionally in wooden barrels and barriques, creating structure, complexity, and finesse. With an alcohol content of 14% vol., the Gaja Barbaresco DOCG 2015 presents itself as a wine of great expressiveness, impressively reflecting the authenticity of its terroir. It is considered a wine for special moments and is also a sought-after collector's item with long aging potential.
Tasting notes:
In the glass, the Gaja Barbaresco 2015 presents a brilliant ruby red with garnet reflections. The nose unfolds elegant aromas of cherries, ripe wild berries, and plums, complemented by floral notes of roses and violets, as well as subtle nuances of tobacco, licorice, truffle, and spices. On the palate, it is powerful and complex, with taut yet elegant tannins, fresh acidity, and a perfect balance between fruit, spice, and minerality. The finish is long, precise, and carried by remarkable elegance.
The Gaja Barbaresco DOCG 2015 is an outstanding accompaniment to hearty dishes. It pairs perfectly with game, braised meats, lamb, or beef fillet, as well as with mature hard cheeses and truffle dishes. It also reveals its full strength with classic Piedmontese specialties such as Brasato al Barolo or Tajarin with mushrooms. Served at a temperature of 16–18°C, it reveals its full potential. Thanks to its structure and depth, it is also ideal for ageing, developing additional complexity and elegance over time.
