Elijah Craig Straight Rye is produced using a similar distillation process to the distillery's small-batch bourbon, but with one crucial difference in the mash bill: instead of a corn-heavy recipe, this whiskey is based on at least 51% rye, complemented by corn and malted barley. This combination creates a distinctive balance between the spice of the rye and the sweetness of the corn, while the long maturation in charred American oak barrels lends it its characteristic depth and smooth texture.
