The Lochlea Dark Briar Single Estate Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a distinctive bottling from the independent Lochlea Distillery, located in the Lowlands of Scotland and known for its handcrafted whiskies made from its own barley. As a single estate whisky, all of the barley comes from the distillery's own fields, lending the product a special authenticity and traceability. Bottled at 46% ABV, this edition presents itself at a perfectly balanced drinking strength.

Maturation took place in a combination of Oloroso sherry casks, Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry casks, and port wine casks, giving the whisky exceptional depth and a complex aromatic spectrum. While the Oloroso casks contribute nutty and spicy notes, PX casks provide sweet dried fruits, and port casks add fruity, berry accents. The Dark Briar is bottled without chill-filtering and without coloring, making it a compelling, pure, natural whisky. It thus represents the modern Lowland style with the clear signature of the Lochlea Distillery.

Lochlea Dark Briar reveals its full strength neat at room temperature, but is also versatile in its combinations. It pairs perfectly with mature hard cheeses such as Manchego or Cheddar, braised beef or game dishes, and elegantly rounds off desserts with dark chocolate or berries. It can also be used in fine whisky cocktails, such as a Rob Roy or a Boulevardier, where its sherry and port cask notes add special depth.
