Founded in Campbeltown in 1828, Springbank Distillery is one of Scotland's most traditional distilleries and is known for its artisanal approach. This heavily peated single malt was first distilled at the distillery in 1973 as part of an experiment to demonstrate that an Islay-style single malt could be produced on the Scottish mainland.

The barley is dried exclusively over peat fires, which gives the whisky its characteristic, intense smoky flavor. The whisky is produced in a double distillation, which promotes a particularly rich aromatic development. It is then aged in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, which lends it additional depth and complexity. The production of this heavily peated single malt demonstrates Springbank's dedication to tradition and a spirit of experimentation.
