The Locher AG brewery is at home in Appenzell, Switzerland.
It was taken over by Johann Christoph Locher in 1886 and is now in its fifth generation.

When the ban was lifted in 1999, which prohibited the production of high-proof alcohol from potatoes and grain, the brewery, now also a distillery, started its whisky production.
This Säntis Malt was allowed to move after its 6-year storage in beer barrels into sweet wine barrels from the Feiler-Artinger winery in Rust, Lake Neusiedl, and gets its finish here.

Colour: Amber.
Nose: beeswax, cedar wood, leather, flowers, dried fruit such as apricots, cherries, raisins, bananas.
Taste: Intense floral notes, pepper, cedar wood, musk nut, cardamom, curry, ginger, chocolate.
Finish: Long lasting, floral, spicy, toasted notes, cocoa, chocolate notes.
