DESCRIPTION
Great everyday wine produced from Grand Prébois and Vinsobres vineyards. The 2020 vintage was a generous year due to good weather conditions, with light rain and warm temperatures.
History
The Côtes-du-Rhône par excellence. Fruity and fleshy, with fine tannins, this is the great everyday wine produced almost exclusively from our Grand Prébois (for the Grenache) and Vinsobres (for the Syrah) vineyards. A beautiful wine, to always have nearby..
The vintage
Favored by very good weather conditions, the 2020 vintage is a generous year, both in quality and quantity. Less hot than 2019, this year was very windy throughout the growing cycle, with light rain. After a fairly mild and mild winter (a single episode of frost should be noted during the night of March 24 to 25, but only the earliest plots were very slightly affected), spring was radiant, fairly warm and very windy, which which allows the soil to preserve its freshness. Flowering began on May 18, under very healthy conditions. The good weather continues in June, July and August, with heat but lower temperatures than in 2019, cool and humid nights and this wind which continues to blow, preserving the freshness of the vines and maintaining the perfect sanitary quality of the grapes. The fairly early harvest therefore began in these very good conditions on August 26 with the white Côtes-du-Rhône and continued until the end of September with the Mourvèdre. The month of September, warm at first then more temperate, offered idyllic harvesting conditions and allowed each plot to be harvested at perfect maturity. The harvest is very healthy with beautiful, juicy and very ripe grapes, reasonable alcohol levels, good acidity and already a good balance. Yields are slightly higher than 2019 and the first tastings bode well for a very nice vintage. begin in these very good conditions from August 26 with the white Côtes-du-Rhône and continue until the end of September with the Mourvèdre. Location
This wine is a blend of Grenache (particularly from our Prébois vineyard near Orange), more northern Syrah (including those from our Vinsobres vineyards) and Mourvèdre.
Terroir
On the Prébois vineyard, stony clay-limestone soils and gravelly clay soils. In Vinsobres, terraces rich in quartz and marly limestone.
Vinification
The harvest date is determined by checking maturity and tasting the berries. As soon as they arrive at the cellar, the grapes are sorted and destemmed. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats from 150hl to 190hl. The extraction is done by reasoned pumping over according to the tasting. After devatting and malolactic fermentation, the wines are transferred partly to wooden vats and partly to stainless steel vats where they will be aged for a year.
Serve at 18°C.
Pairing: Beef, lamb, poultry in sauce, grilled meats.
