This bottling features peated single malt Scotch whisky that has been matured for a total of 7 years. The ex-American rye whisky cask plays a central role, its spicy character complementing the smoky Raasay spirit. The interplay between the peated spirit and the rye whisky cask gives Cask #18/839 a distinctive place within the Na Sia series and demonstrates how the Hebrides style continues to evolve with increasing maturity. The Isle of Raasay Distillery is situated on the small Hebridean island of Raasay, off the coast of the Isle of Skye, and uses 100 percent Scottish malted barley for its single malt. The Na Sia series allows you to explore individual cask components of the distillery’s concept separately and understand their influence on the distillate. With Single Cask #18/839, the focus is particularly on the combination of smoke and the spicy characteristics of a cask previously filled with American rye whisky. This 7-year-old Peated Isle of Raasay Single Malt is bottled at a robust 57.3% ABV, in its natural colour and without chill filtration. The 0.7-litre bottle is also presented in a gift box.

Tasting Note

Colour: Gold to deep amber. Nose: Vanilla and butterscotch mingle with spicy notes and a subtle smoky character. Palate: Full-bodied and spicy with white pepper, caramel and spices, accompanied by the smoky character of the peated distillate. Finish: Long-lasting and warming with vanilla, caramel, white pepper and lingering spice. At 57.3%, the Isle of Raasay 7 Years Old Peated Rye Whisky Single Cask #18/839 is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at room temperature, although a few drops of still water can further bring out the spicy and smoky notes. It pairs well with smoked meats, strong hard cheeses, roasted nuts or dark chocolate with a high cocoa content. The combination of rye cask spice and peaty smoke can also make for an interesting accompaniment to BBQ dishes.
