The grapes come from vines around 17 years old, growing on the limestone and sandstone soils of the island of Madeira. Following careful harvesting and selection, temperature-controlled fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. This Sercial Madeira then matures for at least ten years in used wooden casks, during which time its characteristic complexity develops. The final cuvée is composed of several separately vinified wines, each of which has been aged for at least ten years in oak barrels. With an alcohol content of 19% ABV, this Madeira fortified wine is fresh, precise and multi-layered, with a clear structure and classic elegance.
