From 2024, the Plantation brand will be renamed from Maison Ferrand to Planteray. This decision reflects the company's desire to show sensitivity and respect for historical contexts, particularly with regard to issues such as racial equality, equality and diversity.

The name change aims to make the brand image more modern and cosmopolitan. "Planteray" combines "Plant" for sugar cane and "Ray" for rays of sunshine, which support the growth of sugar cane, and aims to create a positive association without historical baggage. Despite the name change, the taste and production process of the rums remain unchanged.

The West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados produces rum from molasses, which is distilled after a two-day fermentation in both pot and column stills. After the rum has matured for three years in bourbon barrels in Barbados, it is taken to Maison Ferrand in France, where it is aged for a further two years in Ferrand barrels. A final one-year finish in Saint-Estèphe wine barrels gives the rum wine-like aromas and fine tannins, creating a particularly complex flavor profile.
