On the wild and romantic coast of the Isle of Skye, south of Dunvegan, is the picturesque, snow-white Talisker distillery, which was founded in 1831 by two brothers. After their deaths, numerous successors tried to continue the distillery successfully, but all failed. It was only a financial manager and a wine and spirits merchant who managed to take over. After a devastating fire in 1960, the distillery was rebuilt true to the original.
