The Distillation

Vacuum distillation is a unique type of distillation. The botanicals are distilled here particularly gently at low pressure. Due to the lower pressure, the boiling point is reduced, which means that the aromas are particularly protected and their full taste can develop.

The smell

With the KNUT HANSEN VATNAJÖKULL Edition you open a bottle island. The berry-fruity notes of krækiber (crowberry) and sólber (blackcurrant) combine with the herbal scent of arctic thyme. The whole thing is rounded off by the cold volcanic rock that gives the distillate its complexity.

The taste

The focus of the distillate are the sweet little heroes of Iceland: Krækiber (crowberry), Sólber (blackcurrant) and Aðalbláber (wild blueberry). The harsh weather gives them an extraordinarily complex and intense aroma. The tender purple arctic thyme growing in the neighborhood sets a floral and herb accent. A special exotic in the distillate is the deep violet Atlantic alga  Palmaria Palmata  , which makes the distillate a real Icelandic unicum with its refined salty aroma.
